How to mix Sage Green

How to Mix Sage Green | Edible Paint Colour Mixing Tutorial

There is more than one way to mix a beautiful sage green!

In this quick colour mixing tutorial, we explore how to create a soft, muted sage green using just three colours from the Edible Atelier Starter Set: Yellow, Indigo and White.

Starting with yellow, we gradually introduce Indigo to create an earthy green. We then add a little White to increase the value and soften the mixture.

But why choose Indigo instead of a regular Blue?

It all comes down to colour bias and colour theory. Our Indigo leans towards violet, which is complementary to yellow. This violet influence helps neutralise some of the vibrancy, creating a softer, more muted green.

Understanding how colours interact is one of the most valuable skills you can develop as an artist. Rather than memorising exact mixing ratios, we encourage you to experiment, explore and learn to mix colours intuitively.

This is just one of many ways to create sage green!
